
Ohio Volleyball Sweeps Northern Illinois

DEKALB, Ill. – The Ohio volleyball team (8-16, 8-5 MAC) returned to action Saturday night at Northern Illinois (11-12, 5-8 MAC), picking up its second victory of the weekend after sweeping the Huskies 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-16) inside Victor E. Court.Â

The Bobcats and Huskies kept the first two sets close, with Ohio taking set one, 25-18. In that set, the Bobcats went on to hit .355 compared to NIU's .114. The second set saw NIU close the gap and battle to even the score. However, the Bobcats prevailed, taking the set, 25-23. In the set, Ohio hit .270, while NIU hit .219.Â

After the break, Ohio came out and dominated set three, taking it 25-16, helping seal the three-set sweep. The Bobcats hit. 387 in the set and took advantage of six NIU attack errors.Â

Overall, the Bobcats hit .333, while NIU hit .168. Ohio registered 99 total attacks and capitalized on 17 NIU attack errors and six service errors.Â

Individually, freshman outside hitter Caroline Clippard (Cincinnati, Ohio) led Ohio with 13 kills and hit .346, while fifth year opposite hitter Maggie Nedoma (Brooke Park, Ohio) added 12 kills and hit .429 on 21 total swings. Sophomore setter Tria McLean (Battle Creek, Neb.) led the Bobcats with 42 assists, while sophomore defensive specialist/libero Sam Steele (Omaha, Neb.) led the Bobcats with 16 digs.Â

Ohio is back in action Nov. 5-6 when they head to Oxford, Ohio to take on Miami. Friday's match is set to begin at 7 p.m., while Saturday's match will start at 5 p.m.Â
