BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Ohio volleyball team defeated Buffalo, 3-1 (25-15, 27-25, 20-25, 25-14), on Friday (Oct. 15) to achieve their first win on the road.
The Bobcats jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first to set the tone for the match. Never allowing the Bulls a chance to lead, Ohio took set one by 10 points. Buffalo did not let the second set come as easy for the Bobcats, forcing Ohio to score 27 points before taking set two. In the third, the Bulls went on a five-point run late in the match to secure the set for themselves. The Bobcats came back strong in the fourth and led the set by 14 to win the match.
Overall, Ohio hit .269 to Buffalo's .189 with a total of 59 kills, seven aces, and nine total blocks.
Fifth year opposite hitter
Maggie Nedoma (Brook Park, Ohio) hit a team high of .343 and recorded 17 kills. Freshman outside hitter
Caroline Clippard (Cincinnati, Ohio) followed with 14 kills, while junior outside hitter
Olivia Margolies (Galena, Ohio) registered 13.
Sophomore setter
Tria McLean (Battle Creek, Neb.) tallied 48 assists and sophomore libero/defensive specialist
Sam Steele (Omaha, Neb.) had 25 digs. Both McLean and Steele produced three service aces for the Bobcats. Additionally, junior outside hitter/defensive specialist
Ashton Webb (Gallipolis, Ohio) and sophomore defensive specialist/libero
Maci Watrous (Coppell, Texas) added 10 digs a piece.
Up next, Ohio will face the Bulls once more before concluding their weekend on the road. The match will be played tomorrow (Oct. 16) at 4 P.M. EST.
