JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Ohio baseball team (3-9) dropped the opening game of the ETSU Baseball Tournament to Marist, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon at Thomas Stadium.
Redshirt junior catcher Dan McCauley (Pittsburgh, Pa.) went 2-for-4 with a double, single and two RBIs. Redshirt junior Devonte Washington (Twinsburg, Ohio) reached base twice after going 1-for-3 with a single and a walk.
Redshirt sophomore INF Michael Richardson (Cambridge, Md.), redshirt sophomore INF Spencer Harbert (Middletown, Del.), redshirt sophomore OF Trevor Lukkes (Tustin, Calif.), junior OF Isaiah Peterson (Lincoln, Neb.) all had singles.
Sophomore RHP Eamon Horwedel (Ann Arbor, Mich.) fell to 0-2 after pitching 6.0 innings in the start for Ohio. Horwedel struck out five batters and allowed two earned runs.
Graduate transfer RHP Danny Brackman (Tampa, Fla.) tossed 1.0 innings and struck out three batters.
Ohio took the lead in the fifth inning with a single from McCauley that scored Peterson. Peterson reached on a single to right field.
Marist scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
McCauley brought home another run on a fielder's choice that scored Lukkes in the ninth.
Ohio will wrap up the ETSU Baseball Tournament with two games on Sunday. Ohio will take on Wagner at noon and East Tennessee State at 4 p.m.
