Ohio Women's Basketball's Hooks Named MAC East Player of the Week

CLEVELAND – Junior guard Cece Hooks (Dayton, Ohio) was named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 4).

Hooks, an Integrated Healthcare Studies, won the award for the second time this season. Ohio has now won the MAC East Division Player of the Week award six times this season, as senior guard Amani Burke (Columbus, Ohio) and redshirt sophomore guard Erica Johnson (Mansfield, Ohio) each won the award twice.

Hooks set a career-high in a week where she averaged 26.5 points per game. Hooks' career-high came at Central Michigan, where she had 35 points on 14-of-29 shooting and 7-of-11 from the free throw line. Hooks added seven rebounds, four assists and three steals in the game. She started the week with 18 points in Ohio's win over Akron. Hooks had tied her season-highs in both steals and rebounds with seven and nine, respectively and added four assists. For the week, Hooks averaged 26.5 points, eight rebounds, four assists and five steals while shooting 21-of-52 from the field.

Hooks is averaging a team-best 18.1 points per game and is pulling down 5.6 rebounds per game this season.

Ohio will continue MAC play on Wednesday (Feb. 5) at Eastern Michigan. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
