CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Ohio baseball team (3-5) fell to Southeast Missouri State (2-7), 3-0, on Friday evening at Capaha Field.

Senior LHP Nick Byrnes (Cincinnati, Ohio) pitched 2.2 innings of shutout baseball. Byrnes struck out four batters and allowed just three runners to reach base. Sophomore RHP Eamon Horwedel started for Ohio and fell to 0-2 this season. Horwedel allowed just one earned run and struck out four batters in 5.1 innings.

Senior INF Trevor Hafner (Perrysburg, Ohio) had a double and went 1-for-4. Redshirt sophomore INF Michael Richardson (Cambridge, Md.), junior INF Treyben Funderburg (Beavercreek, Ohio), redshirt sophomore INF Spencer Harbert (Middletown, Del.) and redshirt sophomore INF Trevor Lukkes (Tustin, Calif.) all had singles.

SEMO scored on a single to left field in the bottom of the fourth from Austin Blazevic. Blazevic added two more runs in the bottom of the third on a double. Both runs were unearned.

Ohio will continue the series with SEMO with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. ET/noon CT.
