CLEVELAND – Junior guard Cece Hooks (Dayton, Ohio) was named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday (Feb. 25).
Hooks has won the award for the third time this season. Ohio has now won the MAC East Division Player of the Week award nine times this season and for six-straight weeks.
Hooks tied Ohio's single-game scoring record of 41 points in OU's game against Akron. Hooks' 41 points came on 17-of-26 shooting. Hooks was 3-of-5 from behind the three-point line and 4-of-8 from the free throw line. Hooks tied former Bobcat Marlene Stollings, who scored 41 points against Robert Morris in 1997. Hooks added five rebounds, four steals and two assists.
Hooks opened the week with 20 points in the Bobcats' win over Toledo, 86-58. Hooks was 9-of-21 from the field. Hooks averaged 30.5 points, six rebounds and four steals over the past week.
Ohio will continue its season at Bowling Green on Wednesday (Feb. 26). Tip-off is set for 7 pm.
