LEXINGTON, S.C. -- The Ohio baseball team (3-3) dropped the second game of the series to Saint Louis (4-1), 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Lexington County Baseball Stadium in Lexington, S.C.
Junior RHP Edward Kutt IV (Westlake, Calif.) made his third appearance of the season out of the bullpen for Ohio and did not allow a runner to reach base in 3.0 innings pitched. Kutt IV fanned five batters and faced the minimum of nine batters.
Redshirt sophomore RHP Jack Liberatore (Greensburg, Pa.) got his second start of the season and fell to 1-1 after tossing 6.0 innings. Liberatore fanned five batters while allowing two earned runs to score.
Junior OF Isaiah Peterson (Lincoln, Neb.) reached base four times with three walks and a single. Junior INF Aaron Levy (Cincinnati, Ohio) reached twice with a walk and a single. Junior INF Treyben Funderburg (Beavercreek, Ohio) and junior OF Sebastian Fabik (Lebanon, Ohio) each had singles.
Saint Louis scored both of their runs in the third inning. Corrigan Bartlett brought home a run on a sacrifice fly, and Jake Garella doubled to score one to put SLU up 2-0.
Ohio scored in the fourth inning on a Fabik and Funderburg double steal. An error on the third baseman allowed the runners to advance and Funderburg to score.
Charlie Sheehan improved to 1-0 for SLU while Marius Balandis earned the save.
Ohio will wrap up the series with Saint Louis tomorrow at noon. First pitch is set for noon.
