ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio field hockey team moves to 2-1 for the first time since 2012 after taking down Davidson, 3-0

Ohio traveled to Davidson, N.C. to take on the Wildcats for the second time in three years. The Bobcats started quick, getting multiple shots on Davidson goalkeeper Sarah Zeszotarski before junior Emma Spinetto (Louisville, Ky.) made it 1-0 Ohio. Then, with just 1:38 left on the clock in the first, senior Brittany Keen (Perth, Western Australia) pushed the Ohio lead to two, her first of the season, assisted by senior Kendall Ballard (Charlottesville, Va.).

The Bobcats controlled possession most of the second quarter, allowing the Wildcats only one shot near Ohio goalkeeper Sophia Boothby (Spotsylvania, Va.). In the third, Ballard scored one of her own, tallying the last Ohio goal, effectively putting the game out of reach. Ballard peppered the opposing goalkeeper all night, tallying five shots on goal of her own.

Ohio won the penalty corner battle 10-2, also putting a season-high 11 shots on goal. The Bobcats are 2-1 for the first time since 2012 when they defeated Colgate and Radford but lost to Syracuse.

The Bobcats return home next Friday, September 13 when Lock Haven comes to Pruitt Field. First touch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
