Ohio Baseball Defeated by Cal Baptist, 8-2

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Ohio Baseball team (1-6) was defeated on the road by Cal Baptist (9-0), 8-2, in the final game of the four-game series. 

The Bobcats hit two home runs during the game. Senior INF Rudy Rott (Holmen, Wis.) put the Bobcats on the board in the seventh inning with a solo home run over the right field fence. Rott was 2-for-4 with a double, home run, one RBI and one run scored today. Rott now has a team-high four RBI and 15 total bases. The former Mid-American Conference Player of the Year is hitting .321 with four extra base hits this season.

Redshirt sophomore C Dan McCauley (Pittsburgh, Pa.) hit a home run to left field in the eighth inning as a pinch hitter. The home run was McCauley's only at bat of the game. McCauley is 5-for-13 this season with 10 total bases and two doubles.

Sophomore OF Sebastian Fabik (Lebanon, Ohio) roped a double for Ohio and finished the day 1-for-3. 

Cal Baptist opened the scoring in the bottom of the first two runs scored and added one run in the second inning. CBU extended their advantage to 6-0 in the sixth inning. Ohio's home runs in the seventh and eighth inning was able to make it 6-2, but the Lancers scored two in the bottom half of the eighth inning.

Ohio's starter freshman RHP Eamon Horwedel (Ann Arbor, Mich.) dropped to 0-2 this season. Horwedel went 4.0 innings and struckout two batters while allowing three earned runs. 

Sophomore LHP Brett Manis (Port Huron, Mich.) did not give up an earned run in 1.2 innings pitched. Manis fanned two batters and did not walk one and allowed one run to score on just one hit. Manis has made three appearances for the Bobcats this season and has not allowed an earned run over 3.2 innings pitched.

Junior LHP Nick Byrnes (Cincinnati, Ohio) fanned both batters he faced in the seventh inning. Byrnes has a 0.00 ERA this season and has struck out four batters.

Redshirt senior RHP Nick Kamrada did not allow an earned run in the eighth inning. One run scored while Kamrada was on the mound. Sophomore Edward Kutt IV (Westlake, Calif.) pitched 0.2 innings and fanned one batter. Two runs scored while Kutt IV was on the mound, both unearned.

The Bobcats will be back in action next Friday when they begin a three-game series with S.C. Upstate. First pitch in Spartanburg, South Carolina is set for 4 p.m.
