FORT WORTH, Texas – The Ohio women's basketball team (6-3, 0-0 MAC) fell to TCU (8-1, 0-0 Big 12), 79-72, on Sunday afternoon at the Schollmaier Arena.

"We played a good team, TCU was a basket away from beating the #11 team in the nation (Texas A&M) on the road four days ago," head coach Bob Boldon said. "It's good experience for us to get on the road and play in this environment and a team of this caliber. I think we ran out of steam a little bit and that was a concern coming in. Without Erica, we asked other players to step up and I think they tried. You don't just ask those who may be theoretically behind her to play more minutes, but those who play a lot of minutes to play even more minutes than they normally do."

Ohio was paced by senior guard Amani Burke (Columbus, Ohio) who had 26 points, her second-highest output of the season. Burke was 10-of-19 from the field and knocked down four three-pointers and two from the free-throw line. Burke added a career-high seven assists, three rebounds and three steals in 39 minutes on the floor.

Four Bobcats – junior guard Cece Hooks (Dayton, Ohio), redshirt junior guard Katie Barker (Cary, Ill.) junior forward Gabby Burris (Baltimore, Ohio) and Burke - had double-digit points. Hooks scored 15 on 5-of-8 shooting and 1-of-2 from deep. Hooks was 4-of-7 from the free throw line. She added five assists, five steals and one rebound.

Barker was 4-of-5 from behind-the-arc and added three rebounds and one assist. Burris had 11 points and eight boards while going 5-of-7 from the field.

Overall, Ohio shot 49.1 percent (27-of-55) and 10-of-29 (34.5 percent) from the three-point line. TCU was 45.6 percent (26-of-57) and 30.0 percent (6-of-20) from deep. Ohio was 8-of-20 (40.0 percent) from the free throw line while TCU was 21-of-27 (77.8 percent). 

Burris led OU in rebounding with eight, while redshirt sophomore guard Caitlyn Kroll (Bridgeport, Ohio) had five rebounds added to her six points. Burke and Barker each pulled down three boards. OU was outrebounded by TCU, 41-26.

Ohio had 11 steals and forced 19 turnovers. Hooks led OU with five steals while Burke had three, The Bobcats turned the ball over 18 times.

Ohio started the game down 21-19 after the first quarter. Burris and Hooks each had seven points while Burke had five as OU shot 8-of-17. TCU started up 7-0 but Ohio was able to get the lead down to two at 15-13 after a Hooks layup. TCU jumped back out to a seven point lead but Ohio chipped away to cut the lead to two at the buzzer.

The Bobcats took a 41-38 lead into the halftime break after outscoring TCU, 22-17. Barker hit three from deep while Burke had eight, including two from the three-point line. Ohio was 8-11 overall and 6-of-9 from the three-point line. Burke tied the game with the first bucket of the half and then Barker hit a three. A Hooks three and Burke bomb put Ohio up 39-32 with 1:58 left.

OU extended their lead to 63-54 after outscoring the Horned Frogs, 22-16. Ohio was 8-of-14 from the field and 2-of-4 from deep. Burke had 11 in the quarter. Ohio pushed the lead to nine with 8:03 left after an and-one layup. TCU pushed back and got the Ohio lead down to two with 3:39 left, but a Burke three helped Ohio get back to a five point lead.

The Bobcats were outscored 25-9 in the final frame. Ohio was 3-of-13 overall and 1-of-10 from behind-the-arc while TCU was 8-of-14 overall and knocked down 8-of-11 free throws. TCU tied the game with 4:17 left in the quarter and then extended the lead to four with 2:46 left. Kroll knocked down a three with 1:29 left to cut the Horned Frogs lead to 73-72, but Ohio was unable to come any closer and fell, 79-72.

The Bobcats will continue its season at Texas on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. ET.
