CLEVELAND – After a triple-double on Sunday, redshirt sophomore Erica Johnson (Mansfield, Ohio) was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Johnson, a sociology and criminology major, earned MAC weekly honors for the first time this season and the third time of her career after winning the award twice last year.
Johnson recorded the first triple-double in Ohio program history and the 13th in MAC history during OU's win over American on Sunday. Johnson had 24 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists in the victory. A player has not recorded a triple-double in the MAC since 2016. Johnson's 11 assists was a career-high, while she was two points shy of her career best. Johnson was 10-of-16 from the field and 4-of-6 from the three-point line in 35 minutes of play. She had 13 points in the opener against No. 21 Syracuse and knocked down seven threes over the past week
She is one of three players in the nation who has a triple-double this season.
Ohio will continue nonconference play at home against Marshall on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
