CLEVELAND – Sophomore guard Cece Hooks (Dayton, Ohio) earned her third-career Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week award, the league announced on Tuesday (Jan. 8).

Hooks is the fifth Bobcat to be named MAC East Player of the Week this season. She is joined by senior guard Dominique Doseck (Athens, Ohio) redshirt freshman Erica Johnson (Mansfield, Ohio), sophomore forward Gabby Burris (Baltimore, Ohio) and junior guard Amani Burke (Columbus, Ohio).

Hooks, who is a pre-social work major, had 21 points on 9-of-17 shooting and was 3-of-7 from the free throw line in Ohio's 74-71 overtime win against Buffalo to open conference play. Hooks had seven steals for the second-straight game and also posted four rebounds and four assists.

Hooks is currently No. 4 in the nation in steals per game at 4.33. She has recorded at least two swipes in every game this season. Hooks ranked No. 33 in field goal percentage at 56.5 percent and has the second-best percentage for a guard in the nation.

Ohio – who is 12-0 and receiving votes in the latest AP Poll – will host Central Michigan tomorrow (Jan. 9) at 7 p.m.
