Ohio Volleyball Closes Ameritas Players Challenge With Sweep Of Wake Forest

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Ohio volleyball team (2-4) wrapped up the second weekend of the 2018 season with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 27-25) win over Wake Forest (0-6) in its final match of the Ameritas Players Challenge today at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Sophomore middle blocker Tia Jimerson (Sugar Hill, Ga.) hit .529 with 11 kills and a team-high four assisted blocks. Redshirt senior outside hitter Jaime Kosiorek (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) logged 11 kills hitting .233. Sophomore setter Vera Giacomazzi (San Vendemiano, Italy) distributed a team-high 19 assists while freshman setter Kyra Slavik (Saint Charles, Ill.) handed out 13. Sophomore libero/defensive specialist Macy Reihing (Lexington, Ky.) recorded a match-high 16 digs.
After posting a five-point victory in the opening set and a nine-point win in the second, the Bobcats and the Demon Deacons fought to a 23-all tie in the third. A kill gave Wake Forest set point, but Ohio scored four of the final five points -- including a kill by Kosiorek and two kills by Jimerson that ended the match.
Sophomore outside hitter Myca Mitchell led Wake Forest with 10 kills. Sophomore setter Madeline Holt led the match with 27 assists for the Demon Deacons. Senior defensive specialist/libero Hailey McFadden compiled a team-high 13 digs.
Up next, Ohio plays its lone midweek match of the 2018 season, visiting longtime rival Marshall next Wednesday (Sept. 5) at the Cam Henderson Center.
