Ohio Field Hockey Comes Up Short Against Longwood

Farmville, Va. – Ohio field hockey started off strong but was overtaken by the Lancers of Longwood in today's match with the final score 4-3. The Bobcats are now 4-8 in the season while standing 2-2 in conference play.

The Bobcats started off with the first goal from sophomore midfielder Jillian Shive (Lebanon, Ohio) assisted by junior forward Karynne Baker (Falls Church, Va.) before Longwood would score two goals and carry that lead into half time. Into the second half, Shive would score again this time assisted by senior forward Emma Eggleston (Houston, Texas) after the ball was redirected past the goalie on a corner attack. Longwood would score two more goals to take the lead 4-2. The last goal would come unassisted by Baker with a right wing attack to give the Bobcats their final point of the game.

Senior goalkeeper Alex Pennington (Easton, Pa.) played the entirety of the game and recorded seven saves.

Ohio Field Hockey will come back to Athens for their next match up. The Bobcats will meet up with conference opponent Kent State on Friday (Oct. 19) at 3 p.m. EST back on Pruitt Field.
