RICHMOND, Ky. -- The Ohio men's golf team is in third-place through two rounds of the EKU Intercollegiate sponsored by Raising Cane's after posting a combined team score of 556 (-4) on Saturday (Sept. 17) at the University Club at Arlington in Richmond, Ky.
The Bobcats were powered by senior co-captain Ty Herriott (Brandywine, Md.), who sits in first place with a 134 (-6).
Ohio carded a 282 (+2) in the first round and a 274 (-6) in the second. The Bobcats ranked second with 37 birdies over the first two rounds and shot -5 on the par 5s, which tied for fourth.
Tournament host Eastern Kentucky leads the pack after recording a 552 (-8). The Colonels shot rounds of 284 (+4) and 268 (-12). Cleveland State totaled rounds of 285 (+5) and 270 (-10) to finish the first day with a 555 (-5), good for second place.
Herriott shot a 69 (-1) in the first round, then fired a 65 (-5) in the second, which matched his career-best score that he established on Monday (Sept. 12) in the second round Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational in Charleston, W. Va. Herriott's pair of 65 second rounds tie him for the second-best rounds in program history with Charles Vandlir (1959-60 at West Virginia) and Mark Cimarolli (2005-06 at Big East/MAC Challenge). Herriott shot -4 on the par 4s to rank third in the field on Saturday, and his 26 pars tied for sixth.
Herriott leads Eastern Kentucky sophomore Erik Lindwall, who shot a 135 (-5) after rounds of 69 (-1) and 66 (-4). Five players are currently tied for third place.
Senior co-captain Peyton White (Huntersville, N.C.) and sophomore Michael Kenney (Kent, Ohio) are tied for 20th with matching scores of 141 (+1). White, who tied for the most birdies in the field with 10, improved on a first-round score of 73 (+4) with a 68 (-2) in the second. Kenney shot a career-best 67 (-3) in the first round, then posted a 74 (+4) in the second.
Sophomore Ben Sattler (Liberty Township, Ohio) is tied for 36th with a 144 (+4) after round scores of 73 (+3) and a career-best tying 71 (+1).
Junior Brady Bohl (Dublin, Ohio) totaled rounds of 76 (+6) and a career-best 70 (E) to tally a 146 (+6) on day one -- good for a tie for 54th place.
The EKU Intercollegiate will conclude with 18 holes on Sunday (Sept. 18), beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. ET.
