THE BASICS
The Ohio baseball team (11-16, 2-4 MAC) suffered a 20-3 setback to Mid-American Conference West Division foe Ball State (17-12, 4-2 MAC) on Sunday (April 3) in the rubber match of a three-game weekend set at Ball Diamond at First Merchants Ballpark Complex in Muncie, Ind.

Ohio defeated Ball State, 12-6, in 10 innings in the Friday (April 1) series opener. The Cardinals evened the weekend series with a 17-14 come-from-behind win over the Bobcats on Saturday (April 2).

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Senior third baseman John Adryan (Delran, N.J.) went 2-for-3 with a double, his team-leading ninth home run of the year and a walk. He scored two runs.
• Junior left fielder Mitch Longo (Mayfield, Ohio) finished 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI.
• Senior right-handed starting pitcher Connor Sitz (Westerville, Ohio) took the loss on the mound, falling to 2-3 on the year. He struck out four over three innings while permitting six runs -- four of which were earned -- on seven hits and a walk.
• Junior shortstop Alex Maloney went 4-for-5 with a double, his second home run of the year, a walk, four RBIs and three runs scored for Ball State.
• Junior first baseman Caleb Stayton finished 3-for-4 with a double, his sixth home run of the season, five RBIs and two runs scored for the Cardinals.
• Junior right fielder Alex Call went 3-for-7 with his fourth homer of the year, four RBIs and four runs scored for Ball State.
• Junior second baseman Sean Kennedy finished 2-for-3 with a double, three walks, an RBI and three runs scored for the Cardinals.
• Redshirt freshman third baseman Zach Milam tallied two singles and scored a run for Ball State.
• Sophomore right-handed starting pitcher Brendan Burns earned the victory for the Cardinals to improve to 4-1 on the season. He fanned six over five frames of work while giving up two runs -- one of which was earned -- on three hits and five walks.
• The Cardinals tallied multiple runs in six innings -- including a six-run fifth and four-run sixth and seventh innings.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
• Adryan notched his team-high 12th multi-hit game of the season. He has now hit 16 career home runs.
• Longo logged his 11th multi-hit outing of the season -- good for second on the team.

UP NEXT
The Bobcats remain on the road, traveling to Richmond, Ky., for a matchup against Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday (April 5). First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET at Turkey Hughes Field.

Ohio last faced off with Eastern Kentucky on April 21, 2015, defeating the Colonels 6-0 at Bob Wren Stadium in Athens, Ohio.
