THE BASICS

• Junior second baseman Ty Black (Waynesville, Ohio) singled, scored a run and drew three walks.
• Senior right-handed starting pitcher Jake Miller (Westerville, Ohio) struck out one while giving up five runs -- four of which were earned -- on 10 hits. He was tagged with the pitching loss, falling to 2-6 on the year.
• Sophomore righty Logan Jacik (Omaha, Neb.) threw one scoreless inning of relief. He walked one.
• Junior right-handed reliever Tom Colletti (Wheaton, Ill.) gave up two hits in one inning of work.
• Junior first baseman Greg Basalyga led Bowling Green at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
• Senior left fielder Matt Smith finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Falcons.
• Freshman second baseman Riley Minorik tallied two hits, walked and scored a run for Bowling Green.
• Senior center fielder Kory Brown went 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Falcons.
• Freshman designated hitter Logan Giddings posted two singles for Bowling Green.
• Redshirt junior southpaw starting pitcher C.J. Schildt earned the win on the mound for the Falcons, improving to 3-5 on the year. He fanned three while allowing one unearned run on three hits and five walks.
• Junior right-handed reliever Tony Landi tossed one perfect inning of relief to earn his sixth save of the season for Bowling Green.
• Bowling Green plated the game's first run in the bottom of the first inning. Minorik sent a leadoff single through the right side, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by sophomore third baseman Derek Drewes and to third on an infield single to second by Smith and scored on a sacrifice fly to center by Basalyga.
• The Falcons increased their lead to 3-0 in the second. Freshman right fielder R.J. Williams sent a leadoff single through the left side, and Brown followed with a base hit through the left side. Williams scored Bowling Green's second run on a balk. Brown gave the Falcons three runs when he scored on an RBI sacrifice bunt by redshirt junior shortstop Nick Glanzman.
• Ohio scored its first run in the third when junior shortstop Tyler Finkler (Olmsted Falls, Ohio) coaxed a leadoff walk, advanced to second when Longo was hit by a pitch and scored one out later when freshman first baseman Rudy (Rott Holmen, Wis.).
• Bowling Green got a run back in the third when Smith reached on a fielding error with two outs and scored on a base hit through the right side by Basalyga.
• The Falcons made it a 5-1 game when in the fifth as Drewes hit a two-out single to left, stole second and then scored on a base hit to right by Smith.
• Ohio made it a one-run game with three runs on three hits in the eighth. Redshirt senior catcher Cody Gaertner (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Black drew back-to-back walks to get things started. Sophomore right fielder Tony Giannini (Carmel, Ind.) singled to center to score Gaertner. Black scored on an RBI fielder's choice that put redshirt junior Nate Squires (Plain City, Ohio) on base. Squires was replaced on the bases freshman Devon Garcia (Bowling Green, Ohio), who moved up to second on a wild pitch and scored on a base hit back up the middle by Longo.
• Unfortunately for the Bobcats, that's as close as they got, as Landi shut the door on Ohio in the top of the ninth.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
• Longo notched his 14th multi-hit game of the year to tie for the team lead.
• Giannini posted his fifth multi-hit game of the season.
