THE BASICS
The Ohio baseball team (4-7) battled back from an early three-run deficit to force extra innings, but host Wofford (10-3) prevailed in 11 innings, 6-5, on Sunday (March 6) in the series finale of a four-game weekend set at Russell C. King Field in Spartanburg, S.C.

The Terriers took the series from the Bobcats, 3-1. Wofford opened the weekend with a 5-3 win on Friday (March 4) in the opener. The two teams split a Saturday (March 5) doubleheader, with the Terriers winning the first game, 6-3, and the Bobcats rolling to a 16-2 triumph in the second.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Bobcats pounded out 15 hits while limiting the Terriers to eight.
• Junior left fielder Mitch Longo (Mayfield, Ohio) went 4-for-6 -- including two doubles -- to go along with a run scored to lead the Bobcats' bats.
• Sophomore right fielder Tony Giannini (Carmel, Ind.) finished 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored.

• Senior third baseman John Adryan (Delran, N.J.) tallied two hits -- including a solo home run.
• Senior center fielder Manny De Jesus (Caguas, Puerto Rico) recorded two singles and two RBI.
• Redshirt senior catcher Cody Gaertner (Pittsburgh, Pa.) posted a pair of singles, walked and scored a run.

• Junior right-handed starting pitcher Jake Rudnicki (Toledo, Ohio) -- the reigning Mid-American Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week -- fanned seven over five innings while giving up four earned runs on five hits and three walks.
• Redshirt senior right-handed pitcher Eddie Fitzpatrick (North Attleboro, Mass.) worked four innings of relief, striking out three while surrendering one earned run on three walks.
• Redshirt sophomore right-hander Cory Blessing (Mayfield, Ohio) tossed one scoreless frame of relief. He gave up two hits and one walk.
• Junior righty Tom Colletti (Wheaton, Ill.) suffered the pitching defeat for the Bobcats, allowing one earned run on a hit and a walk in 0.2 innings of relief.

• Senior second baseman Alec Paradowski finished with a single, two walks and two RBI for the Terriers.
• Junior first baseman Brett Hash also coaxed two walks for Wofford.
• Senior right-hander Will Stillman earned the victory on the mound for the Terriors, fanning seven over three innings of relief while allowing three hits.
• Junior right-handed starting pitcher Jacob Condra-Bogan surrendered five earned runs on nine hits and two walks. He struck out five for Wofford.
• Junior righty Jordan Accetta tossed 2.2 scoreless frames of relief for Wofford, striking out four while surrendering three hits and a walk.
• Ohio plated the contest's first run in the top of the second inning as Longo sent a leadoff double to right field, then scored two outs later on an infield single to short by Giannini.
• Wofford answered by putting up a four spot in the home half of the second. Sophomore designated hitter Cody Miller got things started by drawing a one-out walk, then moving to third on a double to left by Ruedisili. A single through the right side by sophomore right fielder McClain Bradley brought home Miller and evened the score at one-all. Freshman left fielder Chandler Engel put the Terriers in front with RBI base hit through the right side that plated Ruedisili. One out later, Bradley scored on a wild pitch, then Engel scored to make it 4-1 in favor of Wofford when Paradowski singled through the right side.
• The Bobcats made it a two-run game when Adryan muscled a leadoff dinger to center in the fourth.

• Ohio jumped back in front, 5-4, with a three-run sixth. Longo was once again the catalsyst, shooting a leadoff double to left. Gaertner followed with a single, then advanced to second on the throw to put two on with nobody out. Junior shortstop Tyler Finkler (Olmsted Falls, Ohio) reached on a fielder's choice that put Longo out at the plate, then advanced to second to put two runners in scoring position. Giannini delivered with a one-out single that scored Gaertner and cut Wofford's lead to one run. The Bobcats took the lead one out later on a clutch two-out, two-RBI base hit through the right side by De Jesus.
• The Bobcats maintained their 5-4 advantage until the bottom of the ninth. Engel drew a leadoff walk for the Terriers, then was replaced on the basepath by sophomore pinch runner Alex Malsch. Malsch advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by senior shortstop Derek Hirsch, then moved up to third on a wild pitch. Paradowski sent the contest to extra innings when he lifted a sacrifice fly to right, allowing Malsch to tag up and scored the tying run.
• The 10th inning saw Ohio strand a runner and Wofford strand two.
• After a 1-2-3 top of the 11th for the Bobcats, the Terriers ended the game in the home half. Sophomore Mack Nathanson reached by way of a leadoff single through the left side, then scored two outs later on a bases-loaded, walk-off wild pitch.
