THE BASICS
Despite a three-hit performance from junior third baseman John Adryan (Delran, N.J.), the Ohio baseball team (7-9) fell to Northern Kentucky (6-10) 7-6 in 10 innings on Wednesday (March 16) at Bob Wren Stadium in Athens, Ohio. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Adryan went 3-for-4 with a double, triple and home run with a walk, a pair of RBIs and two runs scored.
- Freshman first baseman Rudy Rott (Holman, Wis.) was 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI.
- Redshirt senior catcher/designated hitter Cody Gaertner (Pittsburgh, Pa.) went 1-for-5 with a home run and two RBI.
- Redshirt freshman Gerry Salisbury (Brunswick, Ohio) got the start for the Bobcats and pitched 1.1 innings, allowing five runs--three earned--on three hits, three walks and one strikeout.
- Sophomore righty Logan Jacik (Omaha, Neb.) threw 1.2 innings, holding the Norse scoreless while allowing one hit and one walk with one strikeout.
- Junior righthander Tom Colletti (Wheaton, Ill.) pitched two scoreless frames with no walks, one hit allowed and two strikeouts.
- Redshirt sophomore righty Cory Blessing (Mayfield, Ohio) threw a scoreless sixth inning, allowing one hit and one walk with one strikeout.
- Redshirt sophomore righthander Michael Klein (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) pitched a scoreless seventh with two strikeouts, one walk and no runs allowed.
- Redshirt senior righty Eddie Fitzpatrick (North Attleboro, Mass.) allowed one run on one hit and two walks to go along with a strikeout.
- Redshirt sophomore righthander Jake Roehn (Sandwich, Ill.) took the loss for Ohio, pitching two innings while allowing one run on one hit and three strikeouts.
- For the Norse, redshirt junior left fielder Conor Ledger went 2-for-5 with two RBIs, a walk and a pair of runs scored.
- Redshirt freshman catcher Will Haueter was 1-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and two walks.
- Redshirt senior right fielder Quint Heady went 1-for-4 with a walk, a run and an RBI.
- Junior righty Kyle Colletta got the start for Northern Kentucky and lasted 5.2 innings, allowing six runs on eight hits, one walk and two strikeouts.
- The Norse struck first as Haueter dropped a single into shallow left field, scoring Ledger from second base after he led off the game with a walk and advanced to second on a single by senior right fielder Quint Heady. Northern Kentucky plated two more in the inning as Heady and Haueter came around to score on a single up the middle by Amann, giving the Norse a 3-0 lead after the top half of the first.
- Northern Kentucky tacked on two more runs in the top of the second as Ledger scored on a passed ball while center fielder Tito Montgomery came home on a wild pitch by Salisbury.
- Adryan put the Bobcats on the board in the bottom of the second as he took a Colletta offering over the fence in right center field.
- Longo extended the third inning by legging out a two-out infield single that turned into a Bobcat run after he was driven in by Rott on a single up the middle to trim Northern Kentucky's lead to 5-2.
- Adryan struck again for the Bobcats in the bottom of the sixth, driving home Rott on a triple to deep right center. Gaertner then tied the game on the next at-bat, driving home Adryan with a no-doubt, two-run homer over the right field fence. Ohio would take the lead in the inning when junior shortstop Tyler Finkler (Olmsted Falls, Ohio) hit a single to center to score junior outfielder Spencer Ibarra (Fort Collins, Colo.), giving the Bobcats a 6-5 lead after six.
- The Norse tied the game at six in the top of the eighth as Ledger singled in senior outfielder Anthony Vagnier.
- Northern Kentucky took a 7-6 lead in the top of the 10th on an Ohio error that scored Montgomery for the game-winning run.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
• The Bobcats have finished with double-digit hits in nine of 16 games this season.
• Gaertner has hit safely in a team-high 13-straight games. The home run was his first of the season. He has recorded three multi-RBI games this season 
• Adryan notched his fifth home run of the season, tying his career high. 
• Rott posted his sixth multi-hit effort of the year.

UP NEXT
Ohio visits Kokomo, Ind. for a three game series this weekend (March 18-20) against Big Ten Conference foe Purdue. First pitch on Friday is set for 6 p.m. ET.
