The Short Story: Despite senior guard Kiyanna Black breaking the Ohio and Mid-American Conference record for three-point makes, the Ohio women’s basketball team (22-5, 14-2 MAC) fell to Buffalo (15-12, 7-9 MAC) 70-58 on Saturday (Feb 27) at the Convocation Center in Athens, Ohio. At halftime, the program’s all-time leading scorer, Caroline (Mast) Daugherty, had her number 40 jersey retired.

How It Happened:
- The Bobcats got on the scoreboard first as junior guard Quiera Lampkins dished out an assist on a bucket by junior forward Jasmine Weatherspoon to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead at the 9:48 mark.
- Ohio forced eight Buffalo in the first quarter but trailed the Bulls 18-12 after one.
- After facing a 24-19 deficit at the 5:04 mark in the second quarter, the Bobcats closed out the half with a 14-2 run to take a 33-26 lead into the locker room.
- 10 of Ohio’s 21 second quarter points came at the free throw line.
- Senior guard Kiyanna Black led all scorers in the first half with 10 points while Lampkins added eight points.
- The Bobcats were a perfect 12-for-12 at the free throw stripe in the first half.
- Ohio sunk three three-pointers in the third quarter with makes from Black, senior forward Lexie Baldwin and junior guard Yamonie Jenkins.
- The Bobcats and Bulls ended the third quarter tied at 48.
- Ohio would take the lead to open the fourth quarter with Lampkins sinking two free throws to give Ohio a 50-48 lead with 9:52 remaining in the game.
- Lampkins scored nine of Ohio’s 10 points in the fourth quarter.
- Ohio missed its last six shots and would fall to the Bulls 70-58.
- The Bobcats shot 15-of-54 (27.8 percent) from the field and 6-of-28 (21.4 percent) from three-point range.
- Ohio was 22-of-25 (88.0 percent) from the free throw stripe.
- Lampkins led Ohio with 18 points and was 12-of-14 from the line. She also dished out six assists, grabbed three rebounds and three steals.
- Black scored 13 points and was 3-of-9 from behind the arc.
- Buffalo shot 23-of-52 (44.0 percent) from the field and 8-of-17 (47.0 percent) from the three-point range.
- Guards Stephanie Reid and Joanna Smith led the way for the Bulls with 21 points each. Reid dished out eight assists and hauled in seven rebounds while Smith was 5-of-10 from three-point range.
- Forward Katherine Ups added 12 for the Bulls.
- The Bulls had 23 turnovers while Ohio turned the ball over 19 times.

COMING UP
The Bobcats will wrap up their three-game homestand with their final home game of the 2015-16 campaign with a contest against Bowling Green on Wednesday (March 3) at 7 p.m. Ohio defeated the Falcons in Bowling Green by a 72-57 margin on Jan. 9.
