OXFORD, Ohio â Undefeated Mid-American Conference rival, Miami University, topped Ohioâs swimming and diving team on Saturday (Nov. 5) 192-108.
To start the meet, Ohioâs Laura Dawson (Newcastle Upon Tyne, England), Mikayla Herich (Hebron, Ky.), Corrin Van Lanen (Green Bay, Wis.) and Emily Zimcosky (Smock, Pa.) placed second in the 400-yard medley relay with a 3:48.62 time. Miamiâs relay placed first only 0.60 seconds ahead.
Ana Henderson (Danville, Calif.) led the Bobcats in the 10000-yard freestyle to place fourth with a 10:22.21 finish.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Herich placed first at 1:51.41, more than a second faster than the first RedHawkâs finisher.
Dawson finished third in the 100-yard backstroke with a 57.35 mark.
Emilia Lahtinen (Ylojarvi, Finland) was the first Bobcat to finish the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:06.17 to take fifth place.
Annie Gosselin (Naperville, Ill.) took first in the 200-yard butterfly with a 2:04.41 time. Elena Patz (Waunakee, Wis.) was next in for the Bobcats in third at 2:06.55.
Van Lanen had her third-consecutive first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle where she finished with a 23.37 mark. Zimcosky finished third at 24.00
Van Lanen also finished first in the 100-yard freestyle with a 51.54 time. Again, Zimcosky finished just after with a 52.62 time to take fourth.
The Bobcats took a second place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with Dawson finishing at 2:02.22.
Mackenzie Hornstra (Naperville, Ill.) was the first to finish for the Bobcats in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:23.83 and in fourth place.
Herich and Henderson finished the 500-yard freestyle first for the Bobcats in second and fifth place at 4:57.53 and 5:08.72 respectively.
Van Lanen gathered her third first-place finish of the afternoon with a 55.94 time in the 100-yard butterfly. Carrie Dukes (Monkton, Md.) finished next in at 56.82 seconds to take third.
In the 15th event of the afternoon, Herich finished the 200-yard IM in 2:06.92 to add a third place finish for the Bobcats.
In the final 400-yard freestyle relay, the Bobcats took second behind the RedHawks with Dawson, Claire Mikesell (Clearfield, Pa.), Kelsey Hahn (Oviedo, Fla.) and Zimcosky in at 3:33.59.
In diving, Olivia Dillon (Newcastle, Aus.) placed second in the 1-meter with a total score of 264.9 and second in the 3-meter with a 267.82 score.
The Bobcats are scheduled to travel to Louisville, Ky. to compete at the Louisvile Invitational Nov. 17-20.
