ESTERO, Fla. -- The Ohio men's golf team is in sixth place with a 608 (+32) after two rounds of play at the Homewood/Hilton Garden Airport & FGCU Classic on Monday (Oct. 24) at Old Corkscrew Golf Club in Estero, Fla.
The Bobcats found themselves in ninth place after carding a first-round 316 (+28) but moved up three spots after combining to shoot a 292 (+4) in the second. Ohio posted a tournament-high 29 birdies over the first two rounds and shot -6 on the par 5s, which ranked third in the field.
Eastern Kentucky is in the lead after tallying a 580 (+4) on the first day of action, totaling rounds of 295 (+7) and 285 (-3). Host Florida Gulf Coast sits in second with a 592 (+16) after recording round scores of 295 (+7) and 297 (+9). Central Florida rounds out the top three with a 598 (+22) through two rounds of play, posting rounds of 300 (+12) and 298 (+10).
Eastern Kentucky junior Will Sallee leads the field with a 138 (-6) after shooting rounds of 70 (-2) and 68 (-4). Florida Gulf Coast senior Keaton Jones shot rounds of 71 (-1) and 73 (+1) to bring his two-round total to 144 (+1) -- good for second place after the first day of play.
Representing the Bobcats in the top three is senior co-captain Ty Herriott (Brandywine, Md.), who improved upon a first-round 76 (+4) with a second-round 69 (-30) to give him a total of 145 (+1). Herriott is shooting -2 on the par 3s and carded eight birdies -- both of which are tied for the tournament lead. He shot three birdies in the second round and shot par on the other 15 holes.
Senior co-captain Peyton White (Huntersville, N.C.) is tied for 10th with a 149 (+5). He shot a 78 (+6) in the first round, then improved with a 71 (-1) in the second. White recorded three birdies on the back nine in the first round and three on the front nine and one on the back in the second.
Sophomore Ben Sattler (Liberty Township, Ohio) shot an 81 (+9) in the first round and a 74 (+3) in the second, giving him a total of 155 (+11) and tying him for 37th. Sattler finished the first day of action with seven birdies -- including five in the second round.
Junior Brady Bohl (Dublin, Ohio) is tied for 55th with a 159 (+15) after rounds of 81 (+9) and 78 (+6). Bohl carded three birdies on the back nine in the second round.
Sophomore Michael Kenney (Kent, Ohio) totaled rounds of 82 (+10) and 79 (+7) on the first day of play, putting him in a tie for 63rd. Two of Kenney's three birdies came on the front nine in the second round.
Final-round action is now scheduled to get underway on Tuesday (Oct. 25) at 8 a.m. ET.
