THE BASICS

The Short Story: Junior forward Antonio Campbell (Cincinnati, Ohio) scored a game-high 17 points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds for his second-straight double-double, but the Ohio men's basketball team (11-7, 2-4 MAC) suffered a 72-49 setback to Mid-American Conference West Division foe Central Michigan (10-9, 3-3 MAC) on Saturday (Jan. 23) at McGuirk Arena in Mount Pleasant, Mich.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Bobcats were held to their lowest offensive output of the 2015-16 season to date. The Chippewas held Ohio to 36.5 percent (19-of-52) from the field -- including 18.8 percent (3-of-16) from three-point range. Central Michigan shot 50.8 percent (30-of-59) from the field and won despite shooting just 25.0 percent (5-of-20) from beyond the arc. The Chippewas outrebounded the Bobcats, 37-29, and held decisive advantages in points in the paint (44-28) and bench points (21-10).
• Campbell shot 8-of-14 from the field to lead Ohio. He also logged a steal in 28 minutes.
• Redshirt junior forward Kenny Kaminski (Medina, Ohio) finished with eight points, two assists and a rebound in 29 minutes.
• Redshirt sophomore guard Jaaron Simmons (Dayton, Ohio) dished out a team-high five assists to go along with six points, four rebounds and two steals in 33 minutes.
• Junior guard Braylon Rayson and sophomore forward Luke Meyer tied for the team lead with 14 points and two steals apiece to lead Central Michigan. Rayson also matched senior forward John Simons with a team-high seven rebounds. He also tallied two assists in 36 minutes. Meyer also recorded six rebounds and a block in 21 minutes. 
• Senior guard Chris Fowler notched 11 points, a game-high nine assists and four rebounds in 38 minutes for the Chippewas.
• Sophomore forward DaRohn Scott shot 4-of-5 from the field to finish with eight points and added five rebounds and a game-high two blocks in 16 minutes of work off of the bench for Central Michigan. 
• Central Michigan used a jumper by senior guard Rayshawn Simmons and a tip-in basket by Meyer to jump out to a 4-0 lead, but the Bobcats countered with a 13-2 run over the next three-plus minutes to take a 13-6 advantage with just under 15 minutes to go in the first half. A trey and a layup by Campbell, layups by Simmons and redshirt senior forward Treg Setty (Maysville, Ky.), a jumper by Kaminski and a pair of free throws by freshman guard Jordan Dartis (Newark, Ohio) helped Ohio build the seven-point lead.
• The Chippewas responded with a 10-2 run to cut Ohio's lead down to one at 16-15 with 9:22 remaining in the opening half, with a three by senior guard Austin Stewart and jumpers by redshirt sophomore guard Josh Kozinski and Rayson highlighting the stretch.
• Campbell gave Ohio a three-point lead with a layup, but Rayson answered at the other end with a trey to tie it. Another layup by Campbell gave the Bobcats a 20-18 lead with just under eight minutes to play in the first half, but Central Michigan proceeded to score the next nine points to take a 27-20 lead with 5:47 left thanks in large part to a jumper and a layup by Meyer, a layup by Simons and a dunk by Scott.
• Ohio cut Central Michigan's lead back to five four times over the final stretch of the half, but another dunk by Scott with 42 seconds left ensured the Chippewas took a seven-point lead into halftime.
• Jumpers by Fowler and Rayson and a layup by Simons helped Central Michigan up its lead to double digits at 11 at 41-30 with just over 17 minutes to play.
• The Bobcats made it an eight-point game thanks to a tip-in by Campbell and a free throw by Simmons, but a three Simmons with 15:10 remaining gave the Chippewas a 44-33 lead and a double-digit advantage for good. 
• Meyer scored eight of his points in the second half while Fowler chipped in seven second-half points as well as four assists.


BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
• Ohio dropped its third-straight game to Central Michigan and is now 45-28 (.616) all-time against the Chippewas.
• Campbell recorded a double-double for a team-high ninth time this season and for the 17th time in his career. He tallied double-digit points for the fifth-straight game, team-high 15th time this year and 36th time in his career. Campbell finished with double-digit rebounds for the ninth time this season and 20th time in his career. He led the team in scoring for the sixth time this season and rebounding for a team-high 13th time this year.
• Simmons led the team in assists for the 18th time this year. He tallied at least five assists for the 16th time this season.

The Bobcats take on MAC West Division foe Toledo (12-7, 3-3 MAC) on Tuesday (Jan. 26) in a 7 p.m. ET matchup at Savage Arena. The contest will be broadcast on the Buckeye Cable Sports Network and ESPN3. The Rockets suffered a 58-49 setback to Northern Illinois on Friday (Jan. 22) in DeKalb, Ill.
