THE BASICS
A walk-off RBI single off of the right field wall by senior Jake Madsen (Cincinnati, Ohio) capped a three-run ninth inning, providing the Ohio baseball team (19-13, 6-4 MAC) with a comeback victory over Mid-American Conference East Division rival Bowling Green (10-19, 4-7 MAC) on Saturday (April 11) at Bob Wren Stadium.

The Bobcats evened the weekend series with the Falcons courtesy of the thrilling comeback. Bowling Green bested Ohio in the opener on Friday (April 10), 4-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ohio found itself trailing Bowling Green by a 7-5 count heading into the bottom of the ninth inning. Redshirt sophomore Nate Squires (Plain City, Ohio) got the Bobcats' comeback bid start by drawing a pinch hit leadoff walk and was then lifted for redshirt senior pinch runner David Hamlett (Stockton, Calif.). Sophomore Ty Black (Waynesville, Ohio) followed with a base hit through the right side to put runners on the corners. Redshirt senior Kyle Dean (Athens, Ohio) was then hit by a pitch to load the bases with Bobcats. After Dean was replaced by sophomore pinch runner Conner Callery (Covington, Ky.), junior Manny De Jesus (Caguas, P.R.) made it a one-run game when he lifted a sacrifice fly to center that allowed Hamlett to tag up and score.Redshirt senior Garrett Black (Lima, Ohio) tied the ballgame up with a base hit through the left side, scoring Ty Black. Sophomore Mitch Longo (Mayfield, Ohio) loaded the bases back up with a single to center, setting the stage for Madsen's heroic hit that allowed Callery to score and win the game for Ohio.
- Longo put together a monster afternoon at the plate for the Bobcats, going 5-for-6 with two doubles, a home run, four RBI and a run scored.
- De Jesus and Ty Black each finished with two hits for Ohio, with De Jesus driving in two runs and scoring another and Black scoring two runs as well as drawing two walks.
- Senior right-handed reliever Logan Cozart (New Philadelphia, Ohio) earned the pitching win for the Bobcats, striking out two while allowing one earned run on two hits and a walk in 2.2 frames of work. He improved to 4-1 on the season.
- Senior Jesse Rait and senior Brian Bien led Bowling Green's bats with two hits apiece. Bien drove in a run while Rait scored another.
- SophomoreGreg Basalyga was 1-for-5 with three RBI for the Falcons.
- Senior right-handed reliever Trevor Blaylock was saddled with the pitching loss for Bowling Green, falling to 0-6 on the year. He gave up three earned runs on a hit and a walk in 0.2 innings of work.
- Bowling Green jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top half of the first. Redshirt senior Brandon Howard hit a one-out single, stole second and advanced to third via a single by redshirt sophomore Trey Keegan. Keegan then attempted to steal second but was caught in a rundown. Howard was able to score on the play, however, by way of a fielder's choice.
- Bowling Green extended its lead to 3-0 in the top of the third when Keegan and junior Kory Brown, who both reached base by way of walks, came around to score on a single to right center by Basalyga.
- Ohio countered in the bottom half of the third to make it a one-run game, as Garrett Black coaxed a leadoff walk to set the stage for a two-run blast over the right field wall by Longo. The round tripper matched senior Tyler Wells (Lexington, Ky.) for the team lead with four dingers on the year.
- The Bobcats took a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the fourth with a three-run inning.Ty Black smacked a one-out double down the left field line. After Dean was struck by a pitch, De Jesus roped a single to right field, scoring Ty Black. After a sacrifice bunt by Garrett Black moved Dean and De Jesus to second and third, Longo smacked a double to left center that scored both runners.
- Bowling Green evened up the game with two runs in the top of the sixth. The Falcons started things off with a two-out single by Rait. Freshman Randy Righter followed that with a base hit of his own. Freshman pinch hitter Derek Drewes drove home Rait with a single to right field, then Bien singled up the middle to allow Righter to cross home plate.
- The Falcons gained a 6-5 advantage in the top half of the seventh as Howard drew a leadoff walk, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Keegan, advanced to third on an Ohio fielding error that allowed junior Matt Smith to reach safely, then scored on an RBI fielder's choice that put Basalyga on.
- In the top half of the eighth, Drewes took a one-out walk, advanced to second on a balk by Cozart, moved to third on a single by Bien and scored on a successfully executed suicide squeeze by Brown to give the Falcons a 7-5 lead.
- Cozart put the Bobcats in position for the dramatic comeback and walk-off in the bottom of the ninth by retiring the Falcons in order in the top of the frame.
