Black Earns Second-Straight MAC East Player of the Week Honor

ATHENS, Ohio - For the second-straight week and the third time this season, Ohio junior guard Kiyanna Black was named the Mid-American Conference East Player of the Week, the league office announced today.

On Feb. 25, Black went 9-of-23 from the field and 5-of-12 from the three-point line in the Bobcats' 78-70 victory against Buffalo. Along with her 26 points, Black grabbed six boards, dished out five assists and grabbed three steals in her 32 minutes on the court.


On Feb. 28, Black once again led Ohio in scoring, going 5-of-14 from the field, 3-of-9 from beyond the arc and hit both of her free throws for 15 points in the Bobcats' 67-47 victory against Bowling Green. She also had four rebounds, three assists and four steals. With the win, the Bobcats clinched both the East Division Title and the MAC Regular Season Championshipfor the first time in 1994-95.

Overall for the week, Black averaged 16 points per game, five rebounds a game and four assists per contest, all above her season average.

Black and the Bobcats return to action Wednesday, March 4 when they travel to Kent State to take on the Golden Flashes. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
