ATHENS, Ohio â€" For the second time this season, Ohio women’s basketball junior guard Kiyanna Black was named the Mid-American Conference East Player of the Week for her performance the week of Feb. 16.
Black (Columbus, Ohio) led the Bobcats to a decisive 71-55 victory at Akron on Feb. 21, dropping a season-high 31 points and adding three rebounds to the mix. Black went 10-of-24 from the field and 4-of-12 from beyond the arc. More importantly, Black was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line. Black also added an assist, a block and two steals during her 32 minutes on the court. The victory helped Ohio improve to 21-4 (12-2 MAC).
On Feb. 18 against Eastern Michigan, Black had 12 points and two rebounds in the 73-61 loss. She went 5-of-13 from the field and 2-of-9 from three-point range. She also added two assists and a steal.
The Bobcats return to action Wednesday, Feb. 25 when they host Buffalo. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Convocation Center.
