ATHENS, Ohio â€" Ohio women’s basketball junior guard Quiera Lampkins was named the Mid-American Conference East Player of the Week for her performance the week of Nov. 30, the league announced today.
Lampkins led Ohio during the week, helping the Bobcats to a perfect 2-0 week. On Dec. 3 against IPFW, Lampkins scored 14 points, going 5-of-7 (71.4%) from the field and hitting all four of her free throws. She also registered six boards, dished out four assists and recorded one block in Ohio’s 79-52 win over the Mastodons.
On Dec. 6 against St. Francis (Pa.), Lampkins led the Bobcats in scoring with 21 points in 27 minutes. Lampkins was 8-of-11 (72.7%) from the field and was 1-of-1 from three-point range. Lampkins was also 4-of-5 from the free throw line while grabbing four rebounds and dishing our two assists while snagging four steals in Ohio’s 91-65 victory.
Overall, Lampkins scored 35 points, grabbed 10 boards, dished out six assists, had for steals and registered one block. She shot and efficient 72.2% (13-of-18) from the field and was 1-of-1 from beyond the arc. She was also 8-of-9 (88.8%) from the free throw line while helping Ohio improve to 5-2 on the season.
The Bobcats will travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. to battle with Duquesne on Sunday (Dec. 13). Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. ET.
