- Junior forward Jasmine Weatherspoon scored Ohio’s first basket as Ohio opened the game on an 8-0 run with field goals from four different Bobcats. 
- The Bobcats would continue to take it to the Mastodons in the first quarter, leading 27-10 after the opening 10 minutes. Ohio shot 65% in the first quarter while Black led all players with 10 points.
- IPFW rebounded in the second quarter, riding an 11-0 run to cut the Ohio lead to 29-22 with 5:07 remaining in the second quarter.
