GAME NOTES
-Ohio scored 17-unanswered points to close out the second quarter in 1:17 to take a 17-7 lead at the half.
-Ohio recorded its first safety of the season when senior LB Jovon Johnson sacked Lamb in the endzone in the fourth quarter.
-Ohio is now 0-1 all-time against Appalachian State
-Ohio is now 2-7 all-time in Bowl appearances.
OFFENSE
-A.J. Ouellette scored a seven-yard touchdown rush with 20-seconds left in the first half. It was the sixth touchdown of the season for the sophomore.
-Ouellette led Ohio with 45 rushing yards on 14 carries.
-Junior quarterback JD Sprague went 14-28 for 132 yards.
-Sophomore wide receiver Brendan Cope caught two passes for 46 yards to lead the team including a long of 39.
-Ohio utilized seven receivers and five rushers in the outing.
-Ohio had 272 yards of total offense including 107 on the ground and 165 through the air.
-Senior running back Daz Patterson finished the game with 89 all-purpose yards.
DEFENSE
-Sophomore linebacker Quentin Poling hauled in his fourth interception and returned it 20 yards for his second touchdown of the season.
-RS senior Jovon Johnson ripped the ball away from App State quarterback Taylor Lamb and returned it 45-yards for his second defensive touchdown of the season.
-Ohio generated 21 points from its defense.
-Senior safety Toran Davis led Ohio with a career high 14 tackles including four solo hits.
-Poling had 11 tackles including four solo and two tackles for loss.
-Johnson, Basham, Laseak and Moore each recorded half sacks in the outing.
SPECIAL TEAMS
-Senior punter Mitch Bonnstetter had eight punts for 302 yards averaging 37.8 per punt.
-Senior placekicker Josiah Yazdani drilled field goals of 36 and 21 yards, including draining 3/3 on PAT. Yazdani finished his career perfect with 101/101 on PAT.
