HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Ohio took their first lead of the contest just 26 seconds in thanks to a three by Baldwin. The Bobcats opened expanded their lead to eight 21-13 on a Black three-pointer with 2:24 left to go in the first. East Carolina still stuck around, ending the first quarter on a 5-0 run cutting the Green and White’s lead to 21-18.
- The ‘Cats jumped to a seven point, 25-18 lead on ECU right away in the second quarter after two lay-ups from Weatherspoon and Harris. Though just under two minutes later, the Pirates cut the deficit down to two after Ohio missed two jump shots. Hanging onto their lead, Ohio opened up their largest lead of the day, 39-28 after a Lampkins lay-up. The Bobcats went into the locker room with a nine point, 43-34 lead over East Carolina.
- Only one bucket was scored in the first two minutes of the third quarter. The Green and White saw their 11-point lead start to deteriorate after ECU went on a 8-0 run to make it a 45-42 game with 2:59 left to go. Karlis nailed a lay-up and two free throws to keep Ohio on top with under a minute to go, and Lampkins drove to the bucket and scored to maintain a five-point lead going into the fourth quarter.
- Ohio started to hit their shots midway through the fourth quarter, springing a 12-6 run and hitting four of eight shots, including a three from Black. Although Ohio saw their nine point, 63-54 lead start to deteriorate as ECU battled from behind. The Pirates did not allow Ohio to score until one second left in the game, when Jenkins hit a free throw. With a 63-61 Ohio lead, Karlis threw the ball away on an in-bound, and the Bobcats fouled right away. ECU missed both free throws and the Bobcats grabbed the rebound to secure the win.

- Ohio defeated East Carolina for the first time since 2001.
- Black totaled her fifth 20-point performance of the 2015-16 campaign, and her second straight.

- Weatherspoon grabbed double-digit rebounds for the third time this year.
- Jenkins has totaled four assists or more five times this year, including three straight.
QUOTABLE:
“I was happy we were able to close it out, it did get a little dicey, but to be able to lead (East Carolina) from wire to wire was pretty impressive. Our team really responded well after a tough weekend (at Duquesne) with a win over a CAA team on their own home floor and another over an AAC team with very short preparation. It obviously shows the toughness of this team and we’re very proud of that.†â€" Head coach Bob Boldon
