QUOTABLE

On the win:

“It feels good to win. I thought we had kind of a sluggish first half and it was nice to see us respond. It was a tough turnaround. It’s short preparation. And then there’s an emotional let down when you go from playing a team as successful as Florida Gulf Coast to a team we saw lose the night before. You saw a more spirited effort out of Winthrop today then what we saw out of them yesterday. You get a little nervous playing a team you saw lose the night before because they’re going to give you their best effort the next day, especially early in the season. I thought Winthrop gave us a really good game. They did some things that our kids had a hard time guarding. I was happy to see us kind of buckle down and get some stops and make some shots on the other end of the court.” â€" Head Coach Bob Boldon

On Kiyanna Black’s performance:

“She shot the ball well. I thought her teammates did a good job getting her shots. I thought KB’s shot selection was terrific. There wasn’t a bas shot that she took and that’s good. It’s a tribute to her with being patient and her teammates working to get her shots. I was really happy for her and her shot selection.” â€" Head Coach Bob Boldon

COMING UP
