ATHENS, Ohio â€" The Ohio women’s soccer team played its final home game of the season on Sunday (Oct. 25), falling to Central Michigan by a final of 2-1.
The Bobcats also celebrated Senior Day at Chessa Field, as defenders Grace Campbell (Wadsworth, Ohio) and Leah Sandercock (Strongsville, Ohio) as well as midfielder Carly Manso (Vernon Hills, Ill.) and forward Holly Harris (Batavia, Ohio) were honored before the game.
“These four are awesome and have done a ton for this program,†coach Aaron Rodgers said. “They played three seasons for me, so they had to endure a coaching change and it’s never easy. They’ve been wonderful. They’ve been great ambassadors for this program and they’ve done such a good job helping us reshape a mentality that’s going to compete in the top half of the conference moving forward.â€
Ohio (5-12-0, 3-7-0 MAC) recorded eight total shot attempts, two of which were on goal compared to 12 shots by the Chippewas (6-9-2, 4-4-1) who recorded three shots on goal.

Ohio responded in the 53rd minute with a goal by midfielder Hannah Jaggers (Taylorsville, Ky.) on a breakaway to the left side of the goal, putting the ball past the keeper to mark as her first goal of the season.
“Our second half performance today was pretty good,†Rodgers said. “In the first half, we were a little bit slower, a little bit second-best. But we scored a fantastic goal and I’m just happy for Hannah that, after all the work that she’s done all year, she finally got a goal. We kept the ball a lot better in the second half.â€
Central Michigan regained a 2-1 lead in the 75th minute when midfielder Eliza Van de Kerkhove took a feed from forward Madison Pogarch on the left side of the box and snuck the ball to the right of the keeper and into the back of the net.
