THE BASICS
Score: Ohio 5, Longwood 1
Records: Ohio (8-6, 3-1 MAC), Longwood (5-9, 2-3 MAC)
Location: Athens, Ohio (Pruitt Field)
Short Story: The Ohio field hockey team (8-6, 3-1 MAC) ran its winning streak to three straight with a 5-1 victory over Mid-American Conference foe Longwood (5-9, 2-3 MAC) on Sunday (Oct. 18) at Pruitt Field in Athens, Ohio.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Bobcats won the statistical battle, leading in shots (13-6) and penalty corners (8-2). Ohio's five goals marked a season high and the program's most since posting a 5-3 win over Ball State on Oct. 19, 2014, at Pruitt Field.
• The Bobcats grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first minute when sophomore Rachel Kho (Oakville, Ontario) dashed by the Lancer defense and pushed the ball to the left of the keeper on a breakaway goal -- her first of her career. A pass from junior Hannah Kingsbury (Louisville, Ky.) set up the breakaway chance.
• The Lancers evened the score at one-all in the 23rd minute as they executed on a penalty corner opportunity, with sophomore Brenna Kinzel putting a backhand shot past redshirt junior goalkeeper Lina Trucco (Lake Bluff, Ill.) off a pair passes from senior Jennifer Burris and freshman Becky Danahar.
• Ohio added to its lead in the 31st minute as sophomore Elena Curley (Louisville, Ky.) took a penalty stroke and sent it past Longwood freshman goalkeeper Katie Wyman. Curley's goal marked her fifth of the year.
• In the 32nd minute, sophomore Maria Russell (Hudson, Ohio) took a feed from the right side of the cage by Curley and found the back of the cage, increasing Ohio's lead to 3-1.
• Russell notched her second goal of the contest in the 56th minute off of a shot from the left side of cage off of a feed from Kingsbury to bring Ohio's lead to 4-1. Russell tallied her team-high 12th goal of the season -- a career high.
• Senior Adele Sammons (Upminister, England) pushed the Ohio advantage to 5-1 in the 64th minute, taking a pass from Kingsbury on penalty corner from the left side of the circle and rocketing the ball past the opposing keeper. Sammons posted her career-high eighth goal of the season, which ranks second on the team. Kingsbury achieved a hat trick of assists with her third helper of the match and career-high seventh of the year, which is tied for second on the squad.
• Curley led the Bobcats with four total shots, with two coming on goal. She ranks third on the team with a career-high 29 shots and fourth with a career-high 14 shots on goal. Senior Clarissa Leickly (Gahanna, Ohio) posted three shots, two of which were on goal while Sammons and Russell had two shots each, with both of Russell's coming on goal and one of Sammons' coming on goal. Leickly and Sammons are tied for the team lead with career highs of 37 shots apiece. Leickly leads Ohio with a career-high 23 shots on goal while Sammons ranks second with a career-high 21. Russell is fourth on the squad with 24 shots and ranks third with 15 shots on goal.
• Sammons also recorded a defensive save for the Bobcats, giving her two on the season and five for her career.
• Trucco finished with three saves in 70 minutes in the cage for the 'Cats. Her season saves total now stands at 52.
• Freshman Leonie Verstraete led Longwood with two shots on goal.
• Wyman recorded three saves in 70 minutes of work in goal for the Lancers.

• The Bobcats have matched their highest win total since 2012 with eight victories this season.

• Russell has now scored 14 career goals. Her 12 goals in 2015 are the most by a Bobcat since then-junior Taylor Brown scored 15 in 2011.
• Sammons career goal total now stands at 15. Her career assist total currently stands at 17. She has now notched 92 career shots, with 49 coming on goal. With three goals and two assists in the two weekend contests, Sammons racked up eight points on the two games.
• Curley now has six goals over the course of her Bobcat career. Her career shot total now stands at 41, with 23 coming on goal.
• Kingsbury has now recorded eight career assists.
• Trucco's career saves total is now up to 61.
• Eleventh-year head coach Neil Macmillan is now two victories away from becoming the all-time winningest head coach in program history for Ohio. He owns an all-time record of 121-97 (.555).

QUOTABLE
"She's always there in front of goal. She's not scoring goals from a long, long way away. The majority of her goals are really quick hand, clean up-type goals which are so essential." - 11th-year head coach Neil Macmillan on Maria Russell and her two goals for Ohio.

"For me, I always think I'm in the right place at the right time. Honestly, I don't care who scores the goals as long as we're scoring goals." - Sophomore Maria Russell on her two-goal afternoon.

UP NEXT
Ohio visits archrival Kent State next Friday (Oct. 23) in its final road match of the 2015 regular season. The clash is set to get underway at 1 p.m. ET. The Bobcats then play host to its final non-conference home match of the regular season on Sunday (Oct. 25), welcoming Northwestern for a 1 p.m. ET battle.
