Final Stats

Head Coach Bob Boldon

On the growth of this year’s team:
“This team is more mature. You’ve got to just be careful that you don’t get too bent out of shape about losing to Western Michigan, and you don’t get too excited about beating Toledo, because you’ve got another opponent that’s waiting for you on Wednesday.”

â€œYou’ve got to try to bring the same level of intensity. It’s a maturation process for us. We have one senior. We play a lot of sophomores. We’re still playing a lot of young players that need to grow up and mature. It’s part of being in college. I think we took a big step in that direction today.

On how to prepare for future games:
“We have to continue to try to get better. I think we’re a better basketball team this year. We shoot the ball better. We guard better. We do a lot of things better. Hopefully that culmination of things will lead us in the right direction.”

“For us, it’s just about getting ready for our next game, and not wondering what’s going to happen seven, eight or nine games from now. We’re going to try to get ready for Eastern Michigan. Hopefully we’ve got a better approach this time around than we did last.”

Junior guard Kiyanna Black:

On having 11 wins at this point in the season:
“Yeah, it’s nice, but it really doesn’t excite me because we’re 2-1 right now. That’s our real record. Yeah, we had 11 wins and all that stuff, but it really doesn’t matter right now.”

On the differences between this year’s team and last year’s team:
“I think that’s the difference between the team this year and the team last year. I think we’re all just gelling together, the team and the coaches. It’s just us becoming mature. We’ve been in this situation before. Now, it’s time to get it done.”

Sophomore guard Quiera Lampkins:

On her performance in the last minute of the game:
“It was very key because if I didn’t get that rebound, they would have got an offensive board or even a put back. We’ve just got to stay tough.”

On trying to maintain a winning record in the MAC:
“I think we’ve always known that we can compete. It’s just that we haven’t been tough enough to actually do it and finish out games.”
