ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University men's cross country team ousted West Virginia Wesleyan at the Ohio Invitational Friday afternoon. The `Cats won the meet with a team score of 15, while WVW finished with 50.
The Green and White claimed the top ten positions in the race with junior Jake Gentile (Kettering, Ohio) took the top spot out of 22 runners in a time of 26:19.25.
Juniors Jarrod Genther (Canal Winchester, Ohio) and Kurt Steinmuller (Stonybrook, N.Y.) and sophomore Michael McKean (Pataskala, Ohio) were within a second of one another for second, third and fourth place, finishing in times of 26:39.43, 26:39.65 and 26:39.86, respectively.
The Bobcat men have claimed the event each of the past five years.
Ohio will have eight days to gear up for the Miami Invitational which will take place Saturday, Sept. 13 at 10:30 a.m.
