AKRON, Ohio - Sophomore pitcher Savannah Jo Dorsey (Grove City, Ohio) tallied nine strikeouts, and junior Dakota Pyles (Galloway, Ohio) collected two hits, but the Ohio University softball team (26-22, 10-6 MAC) fell to Mid-American Conference East Division foe Akron (24-13, 9-5 MAC), 9-0, in six innings in the weekend series finale on Sunday (April 27) at Lee Jackson Field.
The Zips secured the win by posting runs in the second, third and fourth innings and adding six more in the sixth.
Dorsey threw 5.2 innings in the circle for the Bobcats and ran her school-record single-season strikeout total to 224.
Pyles recorded her third multi-hit effort of the 2014 season.
Junior Adrienne Gebele (Annapolis, Md.) smacked her team-leading 11th double of the season.
The Bobcats conclude the 2014 regular season with four games next weekend at the Ohio Softball Field. The 'Cats play host to a twin bill against Western Michigan on Friday (May 2), then welcome Northern Illinois on Saturday (May 3) and Sunday (May 4) to wrap up the regular season.
