MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ohio University softball team (25-19, 10-4 MAC) suffered a 7-0 loss to Ball State (26-15, 7-3 MAC) on Sunday (April 20) in the Mid-American Conference weekend series finale at the BSU Softball Complex.
The Cardinals tallied five runs in the home half of the third inning and two more in the fifth.
Sophomore Amanda Dalton (Salem, Va.), junior Adrienne Gebele (Annapolis, Md.) and freshman Madison Claytor (Alpharetta, Ga.) posted Ohio's three hits.
Freshman Leanna Bachman (Carroll, Ohio) got the start in the pitching circle for the Bobcats, throwing 2.1 innings. Sophomore Savannah Jo Dorsey (Grove City, Ohio) tossed the final 3.2 frames, recording three strikeouts to up her season total to 202 - the second-most strikeouts in a single season in Ohio history.
The Bobcats step out of league play for the final time in the 2014 regular season on Wednesday (April 23), traveling to Huntington, W. Va., for a Battle For The Bell doubleheader against Marshall. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.
