NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Ohio University softball team (12-8) dropped a Wednesday (March 5) doubleheader at Lipscomb (17-3) by scores of 2-1 and 9-4 at Draper Diamond.

The 'Cats took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning of game one when sophomore Alexia Cortez (Beaufort, S.C.) reached on an error to lead off the frame, then stole second and scored one out later on another error.

Ohio kept Lipscomb off the scoreboard until the sixth inning when the Lady Bisons took control of the contest with a two-run homer.

In game two, the Bobcats seized a 1-0 edge in the top of the first as sophomore Amanda Dalton (Salem, Va.) coaxed a leadoff walk and scored two outs later on a base hit to right center by senior Alexandria Basquez (Elk Grove, Calif.).

Lipscomb plated two runs in the home half and another in the second to take a 3-1 lead.

Ohio cut its deficit to one run in the top of the fourth when Basquez drew a one-out walk and scored one out later by way of a double to left field by sophomore Savannah Jo Dorsey (Grove City, Ohio).

Unfortunately for Ohio, the Lady Bisons scored six runs over the final three frames to secure the sweep.

Basquez and junior Dakota Pyles (Galloway, Ohio) led the way at the plate with two hits apiece in game one. In game two, Dalton and Dorsey paced the bats with two hits apiece.
