MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Freshman Casie Hutchinson (Lebanon, Ohio) recorded her fifth straight multi-hit game and fourth of the opening weekend of Mid-American Conference play, but the Ohio University softball team (18-14, 3-1 MAC) suffered a 5-0 setback to Central Michigan (18-10, 1-1 MAC) on Sunday (March 30) at Margo Jonker Stadium.
The Bobcats split the weekend series with the Chippewas after tallying a 5-3 victory on Saturday (March 29).
Hutchinson went 2-for-3 to lead Ohio's bats. She hit .625 with a .688 slugging percentage and a team-high 10 hits to go along with three RBIs and three runs scored over the first four games of league action.
Central Michigan tallied two runs in the second inning and two more in the third to take a 4-0 lead. The Chippewas added an insurance run in the sixth.
The Bobcats return to Athens next weekend to host a pair of MAC East Division foes, taking on Kent State in a Friday (April 4) doubleheader before welcoming Buffalo on Saturday (April 5) and Sunday (April 6) to the Ohio Softball Field.
