DAYTON, Ohio - The Ohio University softball team (14-13) suffered a 6-1 loss in game one of its doubleheader at Dayton (9-12) on Thursday (March 20) at the UD Softball Stadium.

Sophomore pitcher Savannah Jo Dorsey (Grove City, Ohio) limited the Flyers to just one hit over the first four innings of play, but Dayton plated six runs on five hits and two Ohio errors over the fifth and sixth frames. She fanned two over 4.2 innings of work.

The Bobcats put a dent in the Dayton lead in the top of the seventh when freshman Casie Hutchinson (Lebanon, Ohio) reached on a two-base error to lead off the frame. Hutchinson was lifted for senior pinch runner Erin Lashley (Pickerington, Ohio), who scored one out later on a base hit to center by senior Alexandria Basquez (Elk Grove, Calif.). Unfortunately for the Bobcats, that's as close as they got.

Junior pitcher Lauren McClary (Pasadena, Texas) tossed 1.1 innings of relief for Ohio, tallying two strikeouts.
