ATHENS, Ohio - Sophomore pitcher Savannah Jo Dorsey (Grove City, Ohio) recorded 10 strikeouts and belted a two-run home run to help her cause as the Ohio University softball team (14-12) celebrated its 2014 home opener with a 3-1 victory over Wright State (2-14) on Friday (March 14) at the Ohio Softball Field.

Dorsey tossed her ninth complete game of the season, totaling double-digit strikeouts for the fifth time to improve to 11-8. She did not surrender an earned run and scattered eight hits with four walks. Dorsey, along with junior Adrienne Gebele (Annapolis, Md). also led the charge at the plate, tallying two hits - including her third round tripper of the season.

The Bobcats landed the first punch in the bottom of the second, as freshman Madison Claytor (Alpharetta, Ga.) reached by way of catcher's interference with one out, setting the table for Dorsey's dinger to left.

Ohio added on in the ensuing frame, as sophomore Alexia Cortez (Beaufort, S.C.) launched a leadoff blast over the left field wall to make it 3-0 in favor of the `Cats.

The Raiders got on the board with a run in the fourth, but Dorsey and her defense forced Wright State to leave the bases loaded. She retired the side in the fifth and worked around singles in the sixth and seventh to secure the win.

Ohio visits Dayton next Thursday (March 20) for a doubleheader that is slated to get underway at 3 p.m. ET.
