BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Ohio University women's basketball team (8-13, 3-7 MAC) suffered a 55-43 defeat at the hands of Mid-American Conference East Division foe Buffalo (13-8, 6-4 MAC) on Thursday (Feb. 6) at Alumni Arena.
The loss marked the sixth in a row for the Bobcats.
Freshman guard Quiera Lampkins (Gahanna, Ohio) and sophomore guard Kiyanna Black (Columbus, Ohio) led Ohio with 12 points apiece. Lampkins also posted a career-high four blocks to go along with three steals. She reached double figures for the 11th time this season -- including nine of the last 12 games and five of the last six. Black reached double digits for a team-high 13th time this season and fourth game in a row.
Sophomore forward Lexie Baldwin (Hattiesburg, Miss.) and freshman forward Destini Cooper (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) each hauled in seven rebounds to lead the Bobcats on the glass.
The Bulls scored the first four points of the game but a trey by Black, three layups by Lampkins, two by Cooper and another by redshirt sophomore guard Kat Yelle (Geneva, Ill.) helped the Bobcats take a 15-10 advantage with just over six minutes left in the first half.
The Bobcats led, 20-18, at halftime and opened the second half by giving themselves their largest advantage of the day at six points on a layup by Baldwin that made it 24-18.
Buffalo answered back, though, by going on a 14-1 run that gave the Bulls a 32-25 edge with just over 13 minutes left.
Ohio countered with an 18-10 run and regained the lead courtesy of a trey by Baldwin with 4:23 remaining that gave the Bobcats a 43-42 lead.
The Bulls shut the Bobcats down over the final four minutes, though, scoring the game's final 13 points to seal the win.
The Bobcats will host Eastern Michigan on Sunday (Feb. 9) at the Convocation Center in their televised matchup on the Time Warner Cable Sports Network. The opening tip is scheduled for 2 p.m.
