OKATIE, S.C. â€" The Ohio University men’s golf team dropped a close match to DePaul, 8.5-6.5, on Saturday at Callawassie Country Club.
The format of the match differed a bit from standard match play scoring. Golfers could earn a total of three points in a match. Points were earned in one of three ways: posting a better score than your opponent on the back nine, front nine and/or over the course of 18 holes.
Senior Bradley Lucas (Worthington, Ohio) picked up all three points over his opponent, winning the front nine, (36-42), the back nine (40-43) and the 18 hole total (76-85).
Junior Andrew Mlynarski (St. Michaels, Md.) picked up 2.5 points in his match, while freshmen Ty Herriott (Brandywine, Md.) and Peyton White (Huntersville, N.C.) each tallied a half point to round out the scoring for Ohio.
Ohio now remains in the greater Hilton Head area to take part in the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate Feb. 17-18.
