Lampkins Named MAC East Player of the Week

ATHENS, Ohio â€" Ohio women’s basketball guard Quiera Lampkins has been named the Mid-American Conference East Player of the Week, the league announced today.

Lampkins (Gahanna, Ohio) played a pivotal part in all three games for the Bobcats (8-2) this past week. On Dec. 15 she scored 17 points and led a rally in a 69-62 loss to James Madison. She went 6-of-13 from field goal range and 4-of-6 from the free throw line, along with two rebounds.  


On Dec. 19 during the first day of the Georgia State Holiday and Hoops Classic in Atlanta, Ga., Lampkins recorded a double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 boards to lead the Bobcats to a 74-63 victory against La Salle. She went 12-of-16 from the charity stripe and 3-of-6 from field goal range.

The Bobcats wrapped up play in Atlanta on Dec. 20 with a 59-52 victory against UMass. In that game, Lampkins recorded her second-straight double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. She was also named the Holiday and Hoops Classic Most Valuable Player for her performances.

The Bobcats wrap up nonconference action on Monday, Dec. 29 at the Convocation Center when they take on Cleveland State. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
