DeKalb, Ill. â€" The Ohio women’s soccer team fell Sunday afternoon at Northern Illinois, 2-0.
Northern Illinois (5-6-1, 3-0-1 MAC) scored the game-winner in the 78th minute when Jess Wooldridge tapped in a shot from close range. Wooldridge scored again in the 82nd minute on a chip shot to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead.
"We have to learn that we have to establish our rhythm in the game," Head Coach Aaron Rodgers said. "We have to establish our style and we can't allow someone else to dictate the game to us."
Senior Erin Feeney (Milton, Mass.) put a shot on goal for Ohio in the 75th minute, but Amy Annala collected for a save for the Huskies. That was the only shot on goal for the Bobcats in the second half.
Ohio (5-7-0, 2-2-0 MAC) created the most chances in the first half, tallying seven shots and one shot on goal. Senior Annie Beard (Mason, Ohio) put the shot on goal in the 31st minute.
After entering the game in the 32nd minute, Feeney recorded two shots in the first half to lead the way for Ohio in the opening 45 minutes.
The Bobcats finished with 11 shots and won four corner kicks.
Feeney finished with four shots, while sophomore Sasha Haverchak (Akron, Ohio) recorded three shots.
"We got three points on the road this weekend and we look forward to coming back home and playing two big games this coming weekend," Rodgers said. "We have seven games left and a lot to play for."
Ohio returns home to Chessa Field on Friday, Oct. 10 to play host to Ball State at 4 p.m. On Sunday, the Bobcats face off with Miami (Ohio) in a 'Battle of the Bricks' at 1 p.m. That matchup is the NSCAATV's College Game of the Week presented by Continental Tire and will have a live stream.
