YPSILANTI, Mich. â€" The Ohio women’s soccer team fell to Eastern Michigan Sunday afternoon, 2-1, thanks to a late goal for the Eagles.
Chelsie Oddan scored the game-winner in the 83rd minute from 18 yards out with a shot that floated over senior Rachel Fryan (Racine, Wis.) and into the back of the net.
The Bobcats fell behind early in the game when the Eagles scored in the 11th minute of action off of a cross into the box.
Sophomore Alexis Milesky (Plain City, Ohio) equalized for Ohio in the 24th minute when she followed up a shot from sophomore Carly Manso (Vernon Hills, Ill.) that deflected off the post. The goal was Milesky’s team-high fourth of the season.
“I thought we responded well to their early goal,†head coach Aaron Rodgers said. “We scored a really good goal to tie it at halftime and we battled well in the second half and created some really good chances.â€
Ohio was outshot 20-14 by EMU, but each team finished with six shots on goal.
Milesky and senior Liz Finley (Mason, Ohio) led the way with two shots on goal each for the Bobcats. Five Ohio players recorded two shots.
“We have to learn how to play with pressure on us and play with some urgency,†Rodgers said. “We responded to our disappointing loss on Friday with a much more organized and energetic performance today.â€
Ohio is back in action on Friday, Oct. 24 when they travel to Central Michigan. That game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
