ATHENS, OHIO -- The Ohio football team (3-4, 1-2 MAC) fell to Mid-American Conference East Division rival Bowling Green (5-2, 3-0 MAC), 31-13, on Saturday (Oct. 11) in its 2014 Homecoming game at Peden Stadium.

The Falcons took a 7-0 lead less than a minute and a half into the contest, with redshirt sophomore quarterback James Knapke hitting redshirt junior running back Travis Greene on a screen pass for a 27-yard touchdown.

The Falcons added to the lead a little more than a minute later, capitalizing on an Ohio turnover and scoring their second touchdown of the game on a two-yard run by redshirt junior running back Andre Givens.

Ohio countered with two field goals from redshirt junior kicker Josiah Yazdani (Albany, Ohio), with the makes coming from 25 yards and 37 yards, respectively, to make the score 14-6 at the 14:54 mark of the second quarter.

Knapke recorded his second touchdown through the air on an eight-yard connection with redshirt junior wide receiver Ryan Burbrink, increasing the Falcon lead to 21-6 with 8:09 remaining in the first half.

Greene scored his second touchdown of the game in the third quarter, taking a handoff 30 yards to pay dirt and boosting Bowling Green’s advantage to 28-6.

The Bobcats found their way into the endzone with 9:26 remaining in the fourth quarter as senior running back Tim Edmond (Cincinnati, Ohio) ran the ball in from two yards out, marking his second-straight game with a touchdown.

Bowling Green redshirt junior kicker Tyler Tate rounded out the scoring with a 26-yard field goal with 3:40 left in the game.

Ohio redshirt sophomore quarterback JD Sprague (Cincinnati, Ohio) threw for a career-high 325 yards on 27-of-56 passing.

STAT OF THE DAY
An interception by redshirt senior safety Josh Kristoff (Pickerington, Ohio) in the third quarter marked the team captain's first pick since 2011.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
"We lost, so it doesn’t matter what I did. We lost. So, we have to score points, and, really, the only thing I really care about is the 'W.' So, whether that means I throw 90 yards and we win, I don’t care." -- Redshirt sophomore quarterback JD Sprague on his career-high passing day

UP NEXT
