Ohio University Women's Basketball Ousted By Toledo

ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio University women's basketball team (8-10, 3-4 MAC) fell to the University of Toledo (9-9, 4-3 MAC), 64-62, in a Mid-American Conference cross-division contest on Sunday (Jan. 26) at the Convocation Center.

Sophomore guard Kiyanna Black (Columbus, Ohio) led the `Cats with a game-high 18 points and four steals. She has led team in scoring a team-high eight times and has reached double figures in scoring a team-high 10 times. Freshman forward Hannah Boesinger (Hudson, Ohio) swapped three steals and dished in 10 points, marking her fourth finish in double figures this season.

Freshman guard Quiera Lampkins (Gahanna, Ohio) remained consistent, adding 10 points. The freshman has reached double figures in six of her last seven games. Sophomore forward Lexie Baldwin (Hattiesburg, Miss.) and freshman forward Destini Cooper (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) both tallied eight points. Baldwin also posted eight boards and freshman guard Yamonie Jenkins (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) compiled five assists in the loss.

The Bobcats opened the game with a 5-0 run, but the Rockets responded with seven unanswered points of their own to hold an early 7-5 advantage on the `Cats. Ohio proceeded to ground the Rockets with a 17-2 spurt on the way to a 22-9 lead with 7:49 remaining in the first half. The Green and White sustained a double-digit lead for the rest of the half to arrive at the intermission with a 36-19 edge on the Rockets.

Ohio paced the initial minutes of the second half with another mini-run, outscoring Toledo, 5-1, to extend its lead to 41-20. The 21-point advantage was good for the Bobcats' largest lead of the day.

Toledo inched closer throughout the second half, eventually cutting Ohio's lead to 45-41 thanks to a 15-2 run, but Black sank back-to-back threes to give the Green and White a 51-42 lead with 7:48 remaining in the contest. Toledo responded with a 14-5 run to tie the game at 56-all with 2:48 left in the game. The Rockets completed their comeback by rattling off eight points over the final two minutes against Ohio's six.

Ohio will return to the floor on Thursday (Jan. 30) when it hosts MAC East Division leader Bowling Green State University at the Convocation Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
