YPSILANTI, Mich. - The No. 8-seeded Ohio University women's soccer team (7-8-5, 3-5-3 MAC) saw its season come to an end on Sunday at Scicluna Field, falling to top-seeded Eastern Michigan University (12-6-2, 8-2-1 MAC), 3-0, in the 2013 Mid-American Conference Tournament Quarterfinals.

Eastern Michigan, the MAC's regular season champion, advanced to the league semifinals and will face No. 4-seeded Western Michigan on Friday in Ypsilanti.

The Bobcats finished the 2013 regular season with their first non-losing record since 2009 under the direction of first-year head coach Aaron Rodgers and his staff.

“Give credit to Eastern Michigan, which is, obviously, a very good team,” said Rodgers. “We worked hard this year. The standards got really raised, and we demanded so much from them. The process is an ongoing one. If we ever say that we’ve arrived, that’s when we’ll start to fail. Hopefully, we’ll be able to win a MAC championship in the near future.”

The Eagles jumped out to an early advantage when junior defender Marisa Kozikowski found senior forward/midfield Stephanie Clarke, who scored on a deep cross that hit the post and bounced back into the net in the fourth minute.

Clarke struck again for her fifth goal of the season in the 32nd minute, taking a pass from junior forward Angela Vultaggio and scoring from the top of the box.

The Eagles made the score final when Vultaggio took a pass from Kozikowski and found the back of the net in the 65th minute.

Eastern Michigan outshot Ohio, 13-3, in the first half, but Ohio closed the gap to 16-15 to end the match. Freshman forward Alexis Milesky (Plain City, Ohio) and redshirt freshman midfield Carly Manso (Vernon Hills, Ill.) led the Bobcats with two shots on goal apiece. Redshirt freshman midfield/forward Sasha Haverchak (Akron, Ohio) matched Manso with a team-high four shots.

Senior goalkeeper Mattie Liston (Lakewood, Ohio) recorded five saves, bringing her career total to 403, which ranks fifth in MAC history.

Eastern Michigan sophomore goalkeeper Megan McCabe posted a match-high six saves.
