Ohio Blanks Bowling Green, 11-0 in Game One

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Senior right-hander Jason Moulton tossed a complete-game shutout Sunday afternoon to lead the Ohio University baseball team (23-19; 12-5 MAC) to an 11-0 victory over Bowling Green in game one of its doubleheader.

Moulton (Toledo, Ohio) struck out six, walked three and scattered eight hits as he picked up his fourth win on the year. His nine-inning performance was his longest outing on the year. It also marked the seventh time this season an Ohio starter has lasted nine innings.

Offensively for the Bobcats, freshmen Tyler Wells (Lexington, Ky.) and Jake Madsen (Cincinnati, Ohio) and junior Dan Schmidt (Kamiak, Wash.) each collected three hits.

Schmidt and sophomore Scott White (Springboro, Ohio) both drove in three RBI. As a team, Ohio collected 18 hits and scored 10-or-more runs for the ninth time this season.

Senior Jensen Painter (Willshire, Ohio) also chipped in offensively as he got on base for the 42nd-consecutive game as he singled in the first inning. He would later come in to score a run.

Ohio took the early 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to an RBI single by Schmidt, which scored Wells from second base. Wells got on base thanks to a single to right field.

The Bobcats struck again in the third following another RBI by Schmidt, scoring Madsen from second. Madsen got on base with a double down the right field line.

In the sixth inning, Ohio plated a pair of runs thanks to a two-run home run over the left field wall by White to give the Cats a 4-0 lead.

Ohio put the game out of reach as it scored seven runs on six hits in the top half of the ninth to make the count 11-0.

The two teams will conclude the three-game series in game two of the doubleheader.
